The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent action-packed title that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for delighting in violence and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while telling engaging, politically driven tales. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two visionaries whose creations have exemplified all of those elements.

About the Series

Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game series, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' structure by featuring a fresh backdrop and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the producer.

“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their ongoing belief and backing.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone series. Every instalment is a interpretation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can evolve from season to season, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this intricate and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and bring our common bold, ambitious style to the television.”

A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
