The Opening Xbox Game Pass Additions of 2026 Reveal Xbox Is Still Fighting.
In numerous discussions, enthusiasts continue to ring the knell for Microsoft's gaming division. The platform was lately surpassed in sales by a platform few have heard of. Platform-specific outlets are now publishing content about PlayStation as a new development. Last year proved to be complete chaos for Xbox and Microsoft. However, judging purely by the upcoming Game Pass lineup in 2026, it's evident that the green gaming company still intends to engage players with strong games on its premier subscription.
The Immediate Additions
The duo of games you can play right now as you read this, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, aren't the showstoppers. Rather, it's what is coming to Game Pass over the next few weeks that's worth getting excited about.
Significant Forthcoming Releases
On Jan. 13, the subscription service will add the often-overlooked Star Wars Outlaws, an open-world game that breaks up typical Ubisoft design with a space-faring criminal escapade. A further major acquisition is Resident Evil Village with its iconic tall vampire, hailed in past assessments as "the perfect cocktail of terror and combat."
Intriguing Niche Additions
However, the more modest titles coming to Game Pass soon deserve recognition. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, a fantastic but under-the-radar dungeon crawler offering thrilling gameplay, arrives January 7th — and it merits a playthrough even if you missed out on the first Lost in Random game.
This UK-developed survival title from last year may draw you in within just a quarter of an hour.
Atomfall, a survival title with stealth elements by Rebellion Developments, is also a game to check out. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to get excited about.
A Solid, Curated Lineup
In summary, this isn't a revolutionary update to Game Pass, nor are they massive exclusive blockbusters that are the sole reason for the service alone. But Microsoft's additions here are exceptionally strong. The lineup provides a solid mix of old games you might have missed and relatively recent releases that didn't get the attention they deserved the first time around — rendering them excellent choices to get a second chance on Game Pass.
Be prepared to part ways with The Grinch Christmas Adventures, as it happens.
