Pattern of Assaults
Since the onset of the extensive conflict in Ukraine, a series of Russian military personnel have been subjected to assaults within Moscow.
This latest event follows other notable incidents, such as:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed in a car bomb attack in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov perished in late 2024 when a device hidden on a scooter was set off from a distance.
While a source from Ukraine previously linked Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such allegations are never formally acknowledged as a matter of policy.
Hostilities has witnessed clandestine operations moving into the heart of the Russian capital.
The probe into General Sarvarov's death remains underway.
