Rob Edwards along with O'Neil represent the initial names under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend after the squad's 10-match without a victory beginning to the top-flight season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous links to the club - are among the options to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is presently at another club, which would create a possible obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton manager - who made over a century of games for the club during his playing career - is considered a leading candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the club directors as they start the process of appointing a new manager.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, although he would be a shock choice given he was released by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham player is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not be required to pay any compensation.
