Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from spring of 2023.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured 21 championships at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on court had led commentators to question if his skill to play at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour title, gained dominance to create a decider.

The opponent rescued four early chances in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
