Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to undertake their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—used the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Planners parties.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
