BF6 Gamers Concur: Missions Are Overly Demanding

The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 was met with widespread acclaim, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are protesting against some of the game's most difficult challenges, which are required to access certain guns.

Players have started resorting to personalized games set up using Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how grueling these missions have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Tasks

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, in contrast to the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. There are four categories of assignments, but although many only reward skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of acquiring 12 of the 41 primary weapons present in the game.

Some of these gated guns could shortly find their way on rosters of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash across Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious a number of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This mission is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and only works at extremely close range, which isn't typically where you want to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Ridiculously Tough Mission

A different forum member pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, within the long-range weapon type to access the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations from more than 200 meters away with marksman guns

This is tough enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game at present, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and perhaps a classic map in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from over 200m away.

The Bypass

However, there is a solution: the portal. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This implies you can cheese the system… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.

However, when completing the missions in a proper game feels like anti-playing, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for grinding them out in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?

Future Adjustments

It should not be shocking if some of these assignments are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, a portion of the user base simply will never acquire the restricted guns.

For now, the audience continues to express their views on these challenging battlefield assignments, hoping for a fairer player experience in future updates.
